How to Keep Your Natural Hair Healthy: Flora's Story

You want to go all Natural? Well here's a story to motivate you.
I met Flora about a year ago. She had very short natural hair. I was really suprised a lady can keep her hair that short. She told me she wanted to grow her hair all natural without relaxing it. I thought she was just joking. Before now I would argue with anyone that, the only way to make your hair look long and beautiful is by relaxing the hair, but to my amazement flora was able to naturally grow her hair. Read her story of how it all started.
My name is Flora and I'm a 1st year student in UCD studying General Nursing.
I went natural in october 2010 and transitioned for 4 months before I did my big chop on valentine's day 2011.
Read more after the cut.

I'm not going to lie, I was tempted to use relaxers more when I was transitioning than when I actually shaved my hair and started afresh. It was just hard dealing with the different textures. To keep my natural hair healthy I use only organic/natural products on my hair like Shea butter, organic oils (coconut oil, castor oil, olive oil, tea tree oil), sulfate-free shampoo and silicone-free conditioner. I got lots of compliments on my natural hair since I went on this journey. People are always asking questions like "how do you get it so curly?" or "how is it so soft?" or "what kind of products do you use?" For anyone who wants to go natural I would advice you to do your research first. YouTube and Google are great options. It won't be an easy journey but if you stick at it you'll be rewarded with healthy hair and a new image.

hope you enjoyed the story..
